Alabama trending for 4-star CB Zabien Brown
There is a new leader in the recruitment of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star cornerback Zabien Brown, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Multiple expert predictions favoring Alabama to receive Brown’s commitment were entered Wednesday evening.
The Crimson Tide jumped to the front of the RPM after WeAreSC’s Scott Schrader and BamaOnline’s Andrew Bone entered Alabama picks with 60% and 65% confidence levels, respectively.
Alabama vaulted to a 94.5% chance to land the elite defensive back following expert predictions from BamaOnline’s Joseph Hastings and ScoopDuck’s Justin Hopkins.
Brown is the No. 62 overall prospect and No. 7 cornerback in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 player from California.
Alabama visit felt like home for Brown
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound corner took official visits to USC, Ohio State and Alabama in June. He visited the in-state Trojans multiple times this spring in addition to earlier trips to Tuscaloosa and Columbus.
“It was a great time. Got to build relationships,” Brown told On3 in June regarding his Alabama visit. “Further my knowledge of what I already knew. Got to talk more about their defensive scheme. See how the players interact with each other and how the coaches interact with the players. It was just a good experience overall.”
Brown told On3 that a primary objective of his visits was to see if the school felt like home. He got that at Alabama.
“I grew up in Texas around that type of Southern area,” Brown said. “So, it was cool to be around that again. Simple things, like going down to the lake, seeing the trail, and the big backyard with no fences.”
He is expected to announce his college decision on July 9 and is down to the Trojans and Crimson Tide.
“It’s really Alabama and USC,” Brown said. “I really loved Ohio State when I went out there but, from my personal standpoint and my personal takeaways, it has a lot of similarities to USC… it was too similar to USC and I couldn’t see myself going across the country for something in my backyard.”
