Reports: Grant Williams traded to Dallas Mavericks, signs new contract as part of three-team sign-and-trade

Grant Williams is on his way out of Boston. The Celtics are sending Williams to the Dallas Mavericks as part of a sign-and-trade that includes three teams, according to multiple reports.

Williams is heading to the Mavericks and signing a four-year, $53 million deal afterward, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported. As part of the trade, Dallas is trading Reggie Bullock and an unprotected pick swap to the San Antonio Spurs, according to The Athletic and Stadium’s Shams Charania. The Celtics will also receive second-round picks in 2024, 2025 and 2028.

Boston took Williams in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft out of Tennessee, where he was a two-time SEC Player of the Year by the coaches and a consensus All-American in 2019. This past season, Williams averaged 8.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game to help the Celtics to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
