4-star DB Ka’Davion Dotson-Walker feels family vibe at SMU

2024 Duncanville (Tex.) four-star safety Ka’Davion Dotson-Walker was at SMU last month for his official visit, getting another chance to see the local program.
“Just the culture, the coaching staff really felt like a family vibe throughout the whole visit,” Dotson-Walker told On3. “Since I stepped on campus, it just felt like I was stepping into family environment.”
SMU’s coaching staff like cornerbacks coach Rickey Hunley, running backs coach Khenon Hall, director of Dallas recruiting relations Scott Nady and defensive coordinator Scott Symons all played a role in his visit.
“All of them play a big role. Coach Hunley, coach Nady, coach Hall, everyone,” he said. “Building my relationship with coach Symons, the safeties coaches, has been good because he hasn’t been there too long (at that position) so we’ve built a great relationship. They just want me to stay home.”
SMU head coach Rhett Lashlee impresses Dotson-Walker as well.
“He’s a great guy. Just seeing the direction he’s taking the program in (is impressive).”
On his official visit, Cedar Hill (Tex.) defensive back Alexander Rodgers and Dallas Christian (Tex.) defensive back William Nettles joined him.
“Being around other great DBs, we got to talk some ball and enjoy ourselves, see how others act around others. We built great relationships.”
Dotson-Walker reported he’s down to LSU, SMU and Texas. A decision could come soon, and he knows what he’s looking for.
“Of course, it’s about relationships, but it’s about work and my family and me feeling at home. Where I can trust my career and develop me to get me to the next level.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Dotson-Walker ranks as the No. 236 overall prospect in the country, No. 20 safety in the nation and No. 45 prospect in Texas.
