Five Penn State recruits who could provide fireworks by committing soon

Penn State’s Class of 2024 climbed to 21 commitments last week, adding Washington, D.C., defensive tackle De’Andre Cook on Friday. Currently at No. 10 overall nationally in On3’s Team Recruiting Rankings, the Nittany Lions could realistically finish inside the Top 10 this year. However, it’ll likely require James Franklin and his staff padding the class with more four-star talent between now and December.
So which players could be the next to commit? We break it all down here.
Football: Who are Penn State’s Top 5 players ahead of the 2023 season?
DL Liam Andrews
If Penn State is going to finish with a Top 10 class, the Nittany Lions need more Top 100 prospects. If you look at the board currently, Liam Andrews feels like their best opportunity at doing so now that Benedict Umeh appears to be headed to Stanford.
Andrews is currently ranked as an interior lineman, so I will be curious to see how his rating is adjusted now that he’s made it clear he wants to play defensive line. Regardless, Penn State is hopeful he commits in the near future. Andrews has always been quiet, but he’s expected to pick between Penn State, South Carolina and Wisconsin at some point in the near future. We believe Penn State is a slight favorite, but nothing would honestly surprise us here. Andrews largely keeps to himself.
DE Mylachi Williams
Similarly to Andrews, Philadelphia defensive lineman Mylachi Williams is also pretty quiet. However, unlike Andrews, there’s much more optimism surrounding Williams from our top sources. After taking an official visit to Penn State June 9-11, we thought there was a chance Williams might just end his recruitment, but he went on to take two more visits to Pitt (June 16-18) and Syracuse (June 23-25).
Since those visits though, Williams has stayed in consistent communication with the Nittany Lions, leaving our sources feeling good about their chances with the Bonner & Prendergast prospect. Williams is set to announce his commitment next Saturday, July 8. Penn State is considered a massive favorite in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Recruiting: Three Penn State commits who should move up in On3’s rankings
WR Nick Marsh
Wide receiver Nick Marsh is the only non-defensive lineman on this list. With his commitment set for this upcoming Friday, July 7, it feels like Marsh may be trending away from the Nittany Lions currently.
During the month of June, Marsh took three official visits total, going to Pitt (June 1-3), Penn State (June 9-11) and Michigan State (June 23-25). Marsh left the Nittany Lion coaching staff feeling good about their chances when his official visit wrapped up, but that’s changed in recent weeks. I changed my pick from Penn State to Michigan State in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. I don’t think his recruitment is finalized yet, so we’ll see how things progress this week.
DL T.A. Cunningham
T.A. Cunningham’s recruitment was strangely quiet in the month of June. For a player who’s earned more the 50 scholarship offers, the fact that he took just one official visit the entire month wasn’t something we expected back in April or May.
On3′ Recruiting Prediction leans toward Miami currently because of a pick logged back in April, but I think it’s clear that the Nittany Lions are the favorite at the moment. What’s kept us from logging a pick is simply whether Penn State decided to take him.
A few weeks ago, I would’ve considered it unlikely. Now, with players like Deyvid Palepale going to USC and Umeh expected to go to Stanford, I think it’s much more likely. Cunningham has yet to announce a commitment date.

DE Jaylen Harvey
This is another recruitment that truly seems to be up in the air currently.
Penn State has been considered the team to beat with Maryland’s Jaylen Harvey since the fall. When you look at On3’s Visit Center, no school has come close to hosting Harvey as much as the Nittany Lions. And yet, despite that, it’s believed that Florida and Maryland are both seriously in the mix right now with the Quince Orchard edge rusher.
Harvey originally planned to announce his commitment tomorrow, July 4, but now that’s been called off. Our sources seem to believe that Maryland has given him something to think about since taking his official visit to College Park 10 days ago.
