Michigan closely monitoring four-star DL Kole Briehler

Kole Briehler is a prospect on the rise.
The four-star 2025 defensive lineman out of Princeton (N.J.) Hun School has double-digit offers in hand and is attracting more and more interest from programs across the country.
“I’ve been talking to a lot of coaches,” Briehler said. “I’m excited to get out on some more visits. I’m really interested in some of the Big Ten schools like Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. They are all very defensive focused.”
Michigan was busy at Hun School this offseason.
Both area recruiter Grant Newsome and defensive line coach Mike Elston swung by to see 2024 defensive lineman Owen Wafle, who eventually switched his verbal commitment from Notre Dame to Michigan.
While recruiting Wafle, the Wolverines took notice of Briehler and are continuing to monitor him.
So what would an offer from U-M mean for his recruitment?
“It would be really big for me,” Briehler said. “That’s definitely one of the schools that I have a lot of interest in. I’m looking forward to talking more to the coaches and maybe getting out there for a visit some time.”
Briehler added that he has high interest in the program overall and loves what the Wolverines have done on the field over the last couple of seasons, winning back-to-back Big Ten titles and appearing in the College Football Playoff twice in a row.
“I love Michigan,” Briehler said. “They are a defensive powerhouse. They are actually an all-around powerhouse. I love winning, and Michigan is one of the best teams in the country every year. That would definitely be exciting to be a part of.”
Briehler currently has offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Penn State, Rutgers, West Virginia and others.
Briehler recorded 57 tackles, including 19 for loss, seven sacks and one blocked punt as a sophomore at Hun School.
At 6-foot-2, 263 pounds, Briehler is ranked as the No. 27 defensive lineman and No. 274 overall prospect in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
Michigan currently has two commits in its 2025 recruiting class in Top 100 Miami Chaminade-Madonna defensive back Chris Ewald and rising Buford (Ga.) High linebacker Mantrez Walker.
On3 NIL Valuation
Briehler has an On3 NIL Valuation of $28K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
