Recruits who could spark July fireworks for Michigan State (Part Two)

East Lansing, Mich. – In commemoration of the July 4th Independence Day week, SpartanMag is compiling a short series of articles detailing various aspects of celebration, fireworks and explosiveness. In this installment, we take a look at recruits who could produce fireworks for Michigan State in the days ahead.
Michigan State more than tripled the number of commitments in their 2024 recruiting class in June, after entering the month with just three commitments. The Spartans close the month holding ten commitments, most recently landing quarterback Henry Hasselbeck on June 23. Michigan State also landed four-star safety Reggie Powers and four-star running back Anthony Carrie, along with additional commitments on the offensive line and in the secondary.
As we now enter July, the Spartans will look to carry their momentum in what is a month-long dead period. Recruits around the country will be making their final decisions this month after the busy month of June visits.
SpartanMag.com looks at a couple targets that could spark some Michigan State fireworks this month.

Four-star WR Nick Marsh
Michigan State welcomed back former commit Nick Marsh over the weekend of June 23, looking earn a second commitment from the four-star. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver took official visits to Pittsburgh, Penn State, and Kansas this June. The visit to Penn State left a lot of buzz in the air. Michigan State seems to have recaptured the momentum in the recruitment ahead of Marsh’s July 7 decision date.
“Just the love they’ve shown and the phone calls that I have with Coach (Courtney) Hawkins keeps Michigan State in it,” Marsh told On3. “My mindset is really set on three schools. Michigan State is the hometown team, and there’s a lot of pros and cons to that, you know the hometown advantage of being in my area and people knowing me as far as the fan base. And I know that could be big with NIL and raising my stock as a player.”
Marsh is ranked the No. 120 overall recruit, the No. 21 wide receiver, and the No. 3 recruit in Michigan, according to the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.

Four-star Kamar Mothudi
Michigan State welcomed four-star linebacker Kamar Mothudi of Los Angeles (Calif.) Campbell Hall on an official visit back on June 9. He also visited Utah, Washington, and Oregon. The Spartans vaulted themselves into the top group for the four-star battling Oregon and Washington for his commitment.
Mothudi is close friends with four-star linebacker Dylan Williams, as the two may play together at the next level.
“Shattered them, 100% shattered them,” Mothudi told SpartanMag.com regarding his expectations. “I honestly don’t think, like anything I knew (about Michigan State) before this visit could’ve prepared me for what it is actually like. It is really a place, one that you can’t really even speak on it until you actually go and experience it yourself. It is crazy.”
“When (Dylan Williams) was on his visit, he was texting me and I wasn’t brushing it off, but I was like ‘yeah, yeah’,” Mothudi said. “Once I got there, I really got it. I was like ‘wow he was right’.”
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound backer is the No. 252 overall recruit in the nation, according to the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. Mothudi is also the No. 25 linebacker and the No. 24 recruit in California.

It was easy to tell how they answered any questions I had and just how they carried themselves that the program does a good job developing, not only as players but as men too.”
The 6-foot-1 receiver posted impressive numbers during his junior season. Green hauled in 61 passes for 1,344 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. He also scored three more touchdowns with on the ground, running for roughly 600 yards.
