4-star CB CB Jalyn Crawford in daily contact with Gators’ Corey Raymond ahead of decision

4-star CB CB Jalyn Crawford in daily contact with Gators’ Corey Raymond ahead of decision

Folks, it’s almost that time for one of the premier 2024 cornerbacks in the Southeast.

Jalyn Crawford, a four-star defensive back from Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview, took three official visits in January and is now gearing up to take the next step in his recruitment. Florida, Auburn and LSU are considered the front runners ahead of a decision that will take place “soon,” according to On3’s Jeremy Johnson.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Crawford is the No. 20 cornerback and No. 174 prospect overall in his class.

“Now, I’m just putting up all my pros and cons from all the different schools and comparing and contrasting,” Crawford told Johnson. “I’ll be making my decision soon. I’ll be done by the end of July.”

Florida is surging when it matters the most

As for the Gators, they set the bar high after receiving the first official visit on June 2-4. That marked Crawford’s second trip to Gainesville, as Billy Napier’s staff also played host in April.

Auburn is trending heavily in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but UF has been generating some buzz in recent weeks and is more of a factor now compared to the days following his official visit.

“It was a good weekend,” Crawford told Johnson. “Everybody had fun. Florida was a vibe. I could see myself living down there in Gainesville and being a Florida Gator. Talking to coach (Billy) Napier was good. They were high on the board and they bumped themselves up on the official visit.”

Then you have the Corey Raymond effect as well. Crawford knows a tremendous opportunity is on the table and is currently speaking with the secondary coach on a daily basis.

“He has put out that whole LSU group that was there,” Crawford said. “That stands out for me being a DB. He’s put out so many guys.”

On3 Biography of Jalyn Crawford

Jalyn Crawford said he is pleased with how much success he’s had on the high school level at Lilburn (Georgia) Parkview, but he’s working hard at further refining his craft for college and beyond.

“I’ve been working hard at off-man (coverage),” Crawford told 11 Alive. “In the (NFL) and in college, they do more off-man coverage. Some teams do press, but it’s more off-man systems. That’s why it’s something I’ve been really working on and trying to get better at.”

While at Parkview, Carter earned a reputation as a press coverage corner that can lock anybody down.

“I love to compete,” he said. “That’s what I love best about playing cornerback. When the ball is in the air, it’s mine.”

Away from football, Carter enjoys lifting weights. His favorite musician is Lil Baby, and his favorite snack are Flamin’ Hot Doritos. Carter has a 3.4 GPA and plans on majoring in architecture. His father is Jason Crawford.
