Auburn 2023 QB signee Hank Brown visiting, bringing 2 4-star teammates with him
Hank Brown will visit Auburn on Monday, and the 2023 Auburn quarterback signee won’t be alone.
Brown, from Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tenn., is brining two younger teammates with him.
Class of 2024 four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley will be there. So will Class of 2025 four-star interior offensive lineman Chauncey Gooden.
“I’m coming on Monday to watch practice for the day and meet with coaches,” Brown told Auburn Live. “I’m looking forward to watching practice and seeing the coaches again.”
And helping recruit.
“I have convinced (Beasley and Gooden) to consider Auburn,” he said.
Auburn playing catch-up with Beasley
Auburn is playing from behind on Beasley. The No. 1 overall recruit from Tennessee committed to the in-state Volunteers in October after heavily considering the Tigers and Notre Dame, among others. Beasley, however, has yet to meet Auburn’s new coaching staff.
That obviously will change on Monday.
Beasley, who is listed as 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, is the No. 116 recruit in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, an industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks the No. 13 cornerback in the class.
Gooden already is considered one of the top 2025 recruits in Tennessee. He’s ranked a four-star recruit and a top-five recruit in Tennessee by both 247 Sports and Rivals.com. On3 has yet to rank him. Gooden claims offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, Arkansas, Miami, South Carolina and Missouri, among others.
Like Beasley, Monday will be Gooden’s first time meeting the Tigers’ new staff.
“It should be a great day,” Brown said.
Brown looking forward to meeting again with coaches
Brown is a big fan of Hugh Freeze. Their relationship dates back to Freeze’s time at Liberty. Brown was committed to Liberty under Freeze before Freeze took the Auburn job. The quarterback then followed the coach to Auburn.
He also has a close bond with quarterbacks coach Kent Austin and great admiration for Philip Montgomery.
“I know these coaches are amazing, and not just as coaches, but people as well,” Brown said following his Auburn commitment. “Coach Freeze is super authentic. Coach Austin is my guy. He’s been with me throughout this whole process at Liberty and now at Auburn.
“Coach Montgomery, the new OC, he’s just an amazing person and has a a great track record as an offensive guy.”
Brown, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, will enroll at Auburn in the summer.
“I can’t wait,” he said.
