What USC can look forward to in Texas moving forward

USC recruiting has jumped a few notches in recent weeks, much of which has been thanks to landing plenty of local California talent. The Trojans have also helped raise their national awareness on the recruiting trail, landing prospects from Texas, Florida, Georgia, Colorado, and Connecticut.
I fully expect USC to keep that national momentum for the future, especially in hot spots like Texas, Florida, and Georgia.
Being a Texas guy myself, I am very excited and intrigued to see the impact Lincoln Riley and the staff have in the state for the classes to come.
As of right now, USC holds two commitments in Texas in McKinney running back Bryan Jackson and Arlington Martin offensive lineman Makai Saina.
Looking forward to the rest of the 2024 class, there is one large target left and that is Longview running back Taylor Tatum, the nation’s No. 1 prospect at his position.
Looking ahead to 2025
The Trojans are closing in on two dozen offers in Texas for next year’s cycle and that number will surely grow.
But even now, in their first offers sent out in the state, we can identify a handful of names that we know will involved with USC in the future.
On the offensive side of the ball, one of the top names to know is Desoto running back Deondrae “Tiger” Riden. Kiel McDonald has identified Riden as one of his top targets in the 2025 class and the two have already established a strong relationship. Texas appears to be McDonald’s preferred source of his running backs for the Trojans.
At wide receiver, there are two names as of now to know both ranked top-20 national prospects. Duncanville five-star Dakorien Moore and Katy Fulshear elite four-star Andrew Marsh both visited USC in recent weeks and months. And both have expressed legitimate interest in the Trojans. Wide receiver is a position that many prospects are lining up at the door to play for Lincoln Riley and his track record with the position will allow USC to compete for the best talents across the country.
At tight end, Southlake Caroll four-star Jack VanDorselaer is a recent offer and have a California connection in his family.
On the defensive side of the ball, I am looking at McKinney linebacker Riley Pettijohn. The top-60 prospect has USC as a major contender in his recruitment and his relationship with Brian Odom has progressed greatly in the past few months.
Also at linebacker is Galveston Ball four-star Jonah Williams as someone who I think USC might be able to connect with. He is ranked as the No. 1 linebacker in the country. Right now, I see him as a guy who likely stays in the region, but if a visit does take place in the future, I can see a connection being built.
At cornerback, Shadow Creek four-star Cobey Sellers is a brand new offer. USC is standing out in the Houston area right now for some and being outside of Houston, I think USC will be a fact in his recruitment.
