OL Kail Ellis opens up on new ‘surreal’ Georgia offer

Georgia holds the commitment of one of Cartersville, Georgia’s best in Cass High wideout Sacovie White, but the Dawgs aren’t stopping when it comes to evaluating the Colonels. That was made clear with a recent offer to 2026 offensive lineman Kail Ellis.

“It was surreal. Working with one of the best in the nation, Coach [Stacy] Searels, and seeing the facilities, atmosphere, and family feel at UGA was an amazing experience,” Ellis said following his stop with the Bulldogs for camp.

The news of the offer was similarly hard for Ellis to wrap his head around.

“He called my coach after camp and told him the news. Coach [Searels] also said to continue to work hard…It was unreal,” he said. “Getting that opportunity from a school like Georgia is surreal.”

The ability to be up close and personal with Georgia’s offensive line coach isn’t an opportunity that will be leaving Ellis any time soon either.

“It was a great experience. Coach Searels is a very experienced and knowledgeable coach,” he said. “He has a great connection with his players, as well.”

Of course, being in-state and seeing what the Dawgs have done recently doesn’t hurt early on either.

“UGA has always been a school in mind because of how close it is to me,” Ellis said. “When I think of Georgia, I think of winning. It’s pretty simple, but that’s what they do.”

Still, it’s early on for the rising sophomore, and there’s more checking out to do.

“Oklahoma is far, but that is one school I would love to visit,” he said. “No more visits this summer that I know of yet, but I will most definitely catch a game (at Georgia) this fall.”

And when that time comes, he knows what he’ll be looking for.

“Having a family feel with the coaches is big to me and recovery is huge for me as well. Also, the playing atmosphere on game days,” Ellis said.

Kail Ellis is a 6-foot-3, 275-pound interior offensive lineman.
