Recruiting is a wild ride, and Kyle Flood has provided plenty of ups
Take a deep breath because Texas recruiting is gonna be a wild ride.

There will be ups, like Daniel Cruz’s pledge yesterday evening, and downs, like the news that long shot OT candidate Daniel Calhoun is likely staying home in his native Georgia.
But that’s what you get when you are in these highly competitive recruiting battles, whether it’s an in-state prospect or out of state.
With relatively few exceptions, Texas is now locked in battles with national powers for almost every recruit remaining on the board.
That’s a good thing, right?
That’s what you want. The best players available.
But it also means to expect twists and turns as other teams covet those same prospects.
Right now, Texas is poised to land another stellar class. I have no doubt about that. But I also know it’s going to be a roller coaster to get there.

Kyle Flood continues to be perhaps the best OL recruiter I’ve witnessed at Texas. That goes back 30 years.
Tim Nunez was pretty good in the early Mack Brown days, but nobody is connecting year after year like Flood.
If it’s true that championships are won on the line of scrimmage, Flood is more than doing his part.

One thing to note on Daniel Cruz.
I’m a big believer in stalemating and then moving people in the middle of the OL, especially when you rely on a power run scheme like Sark does.
While I like and appreciate current center Jake Majors, that’s not really who he is as a player.
As we watch how the Texas OL develops over the next couple of years, it’ll be interesting to see just how much of a role an eventual change at center plays.
Being able to run up the middle gives the playmakers on the outside that much more space.
