5-star Alabama commit Ryan Williams talks his interest in Miami and his upcoming July visit with the Hurricanes

Despite being committed to Alabama since October, programs across the country have not stopped pursuing Saraland (Ala.) five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams, and that includes the Miami Hurricanes.
After offering the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Ranking in January, the two sides have remained in contact, which has led to Williams’ continued interest in the program and a planned visit to Coral Gables in July.
“I’ve actually have been talking to them a lot,” Williams told CaneSport. “I do plan on getting down there in July for the cookout. Definitely then or sometime in July.”
Thus far, Williams, who is the No. 1 wideout in the 2025 cycle, has heard from the entire Hurricanes coaching staff but says he has built the closest relationship with Miami quality control analyst Jourdyn Thompson, who has been at the forefront of his recruitment.
“I’ve been talking to all the receiver coaches, but mostly coach Thompson,” Williams said. “When I talk to him, it’s very wholesome, and I feel like I can talk to him about anything.”
The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder has also been in talks with Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal, who wants Williams to be part of his grand scheme of revitalizing Miami’s programs in the not-so-distant future.
“He wants me to come be the guy, like the guy,” Williams said. “That definitely makes an impact when the head coach wants you to make a change in his program.”
Miami’s overall message to Williams?
“They’re telling me that they want me to come get the culture back to where it was,” Williams said. “You know Miami can win because they’ve won before, so I definitely know they’re capable of winning, and they need the players to do it.”
CaneSport’s take
While Williams remains adamant about his commitment to Alabama and has stated that he is extremely locked in with the Rolling Tide, he has not completely shut out other programs, which is a good sign for the Hurricanes. With his visit next month inching closer each day, Williams knows what he’ll be looking out for during his time in Coral Gables.
“I definitely want to build my relationship with them and want to see a normal workday,” Willams said. “I want to see what type of work they put in every day because I’ve seen great practices and great programs, so I want to make sure they’ve got that.”
Although flipping the Alabama commit seems like a tall task for any program, in this day and age of college football recruiting anything can happen, so why not try to do so if the interest is there?
