Nuggets: Two true freshmen trending up for Kansas State

Kansas State freshman receiver flashing
According to sources that have spoken to both Derek Young and Drew Galloway of KSO, a true freshman that has impressed immensely since arriving is June is Kansas State receiver Tre Spivey. He was actually the only one of the four wideouts that didn’t start school in January.
That hasn’t slowed his progress. Spivey has been on a mission and described as “killing it” in just about every aspect. While young, he has a college-ready body and has left his mark and a fantastic first impression on K-State teammates and coaches.
It isn’t out of the question that he plays in year one in Manhattan. He has been that sharp and on top of his work since enrolling. Having a father that has been through it and showed him what it takes and what it is like as a professional has been beneficial for him.
A No-Go
Defensive end recruiting took another negative twist for Kansas State this week.
Their two primary targets had been Caleb Redd and Joseph Anderson. Both of St. Louis, the Wildcats was contending with some notable foes for each major prospect. While in the mix, it was a tough battle to land either one.
Soon after Redd’s official visit to Manhattan was complete, he discussed his final decision with his inner circle and picked Kentucky. Unfortunately, it won’t work out for K-State in pursuit of Anderson, either. They didn’t even land an official visit, and Iowa will be the choice.
Spotlight on a K-State cornerback
A second true freshman that is having a strong first month on the Kansas State campus is cornerback Kanijal Thomas of Oklahoma. He has hit the ground running since making his way to Manhattan earlier in June.
If folks remember, we said that he had a similar profile to a cornerback that played in year one at K-State as a true freshman a season ago in Jacob Parrish. The fact that he is already trending up suggests that it was a very accurate comparison.
