Report: Buzz Williams contract details revealed at Maryland
The Maryland Terrapins pulled off one of the biggest coaching hires this coaching carousel, hiring Buzz Williams away from the Texas A&M Aggies. Now, those contract details have been revealed for Williams.
According to a recent report, Williams has a six-year contract that will pay him $4.8 million annually. That $4.8 million salary will increase by $100,000 annually in the deal. That means he’ll be set to make $5.3 million in his final year on the contract.
Buzz Williams is replacing Kevin Willard at Maryland who left to become the head coach at Villanova in his own right. In three seasons with the Terrapins, Willard was able to make the NCAA Tournament twice, including a run to the Sweet Sixteen this past season. That was the program’s deepest tournament run since 2016.
