Jason Marshall Jr. selected in fifth round of 2025 NFL Draft

Florida Gators cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday. His hometown Miami Dolphins picked him No. 150 overall.
Marshall registered 20 tackles (13 solo), 1.5 tackles-for-loss, four pass breakups, three QB hurries and one forced fumble in 2024 before his season-ending shoulder injury. Through the first month of this year, he was the nation’s highest graded cornerback in single coverage, per PFF.
Marshall injured his labrum during the homecoming game against Kentucky and required surgery. He started the first seven games of the 2024 season and was a four-year starter at UF. He finished with 98 tackles, 26 pass breakups, two interceptions and a sack in his career.
Marshall played in the East-West Shrine Bowl and competed in the NFL Scouting Combine.
“Great for Jason to be healthy. I thought he did a good job in Indy, to be where he was at in his return to play and rehab. I thought he did really well, and I thought (Pro Day) was a good step in the right direction to be able to do the position work,” Florida coach Billy Napier said of Marshall.
“But Jason, again, a Gator through and through. A ton of respect for his family and the leadership that he showed here, the respect he had from the players, a lot of good there. And the way he was playing prior to the injury, I think he’s an NFL starter.”

Draft analysis
“Outside cornerback with good size, athleticism and experience but too much inconsistency on tape. Marshall can disrupt the release from press and ride route turns to stay in position to defend the throw. He falls asleep against play-action and misdirection. Also, he has poor hands when it’s time to flip the field. For his size, he’s a disappointing tackler, especially in run support. The lack of urgency and determination Marshall shows on tape could hurt his stock.” — Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
