2025 NFL Draft: Nick Saban gives marriage advice to Dylan Fairchild, jokes about Miss Terry

Former Alabama coach Nick Saban gave some marriage advice to new Cincinnati Bengals guard Dylan Fairchild. The former Georgia offensive lineman just got married.

Saban, who’s been married for decades to “Miss Terry,” is living with his wife happily retired and no longer coaching of course. But, he still has advice for marriage even these days, learning new things from his wife.

So, Saban talked to Fairchild, indirectly, during the 2025 NFL Draft. Safe to say, Saban got his jokes in too about his lovely wife.

“Let her be the boss,” Saban joked during the ABC broadcast. “When I retired, she gave me the 10 commandments of retirement. After one week, she said, obviously, 10 is not enough.”

Saban’s marriage advice to Fairchild is sound isn’t it? Fairchild would certainly like some football advice too! Who wouldn’t from the coaching legend?

In 2021, Fairchild played in one game as a reserve for the national championship team before redshirting. The following season, Fairchild played in five games as a reserve and helped the team win the national title for the second consecutive year.

In 2023, Fairchild played in 14 games with 10 starts and left guard and was a Joe Moore Award finalist (nation’s top offensive lineman). Last year, Fairchild started all 14 games at left guard and helped the Bulldogs win the SEC and reach the College Football Playoff, the year after Saban retired. He was named to the All-SEC and All-American Second Team.

“It’s the next level,” Fairchild said to reporters at Georgia’s Pro Day in March, per DawgsHQ. “I just want to continue to climb these levels and pursue the end game. I’m just ready. I just felt ready. This university has prepared me well. I’m excited for this next jump.”

Fairchild played high school football at West Forsyth in Cumming, Georgia. He ranked as the 108th overall prospect and the sixth offensive lineman in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
