Jayden Epps commits from transfer portal to Mississippi State

Jayden Epps has committed to Mississippi State in the NCAA Transfer Portal. That comes per On3’s Joe Tipton on Friday morning.

Epps has played his first three collegiate seasons with a pair at Georgetown and one to start with at Illinois. He has averaged 13.5 points (39.8% FG, 31.6% 3PT on 1.8 triples), 2.7 assists, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game with the Hoyas and the Fighting Illini. That includes 15.8 points (39.2% FG, 32.1% 3PT), 3.3 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.3 steals a game the past two seasons in Washington, D.C..

Epps, a Norfolk, Virginia native, played high school basketball at Combine Academy in Charlotte after starting his career at King’s Fork High School in Suffolk. He was the No. 81 overall recruit there as a four-star prospect in the 2022 cycle. He also rated as the No. 12 combo guard in the class and the No. 2 player out of North Carolina behind only Freddie Dilione (Tennessee, Penn State). That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Now, Epps is one of the best players available this offseason, per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, after entering his name on April 21st. He’s at No. 86 overall as the No. 5 combo guard, which had him in the Top-25 and as the No. 3 combo guard of players still available in the portal.
