Miami Dolphins select Kenneth Grant in 1st round of 2025 NFL Draft

Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant has been selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was taken with the 13th overall pick in the draft.

Grant earned a name for himself for the Wolverines en route to a national championship in 2023. He was a monster that season, recording some excellent numbers.

Then he matched them as a third-year player in 2024. Kenneth Grant finished last season with 32 tackles, 7.0 tackles for a loss, 3.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries and five passes defended.

In total during his career, he logged 69 tackles, 12.0 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and 10 passes defended. He had a knack for getting his hands up in the passing lanes to deflect passes.

Prior to enrolling at Michigan, Kenneth Grant was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 277 overall player in the 2022 class in the On3 Industry Rankings. He also checked in as the No. 33 defensive lineman in the class and the No. 9 overall player from the state of Indiana, hailing from Merrillville (IN) Merrillville.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Kenneth Grant

While he shared the spotlight in the middle of the Michigan defensive line with Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant was plenty productive in his own right. That’s evidenced by his draft selection.

But even leading into the draft, analysts were raving about his ability. The NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein wrote the following in evaluating Grant as a prospect:

“Grant is a broad-bodied nose tackle whose tape can run hot and cold depending on the game and the types of blocks he’s facing. He struggles to anchor when hit with down blocks due to his narrow base and tall pads, but he uses his power and length to beat single blocks and split double teams when he finds the crease.

“He had some sack production in college, and we could see him improve in that area once he learns to create more rush space with his hands. Grant’s game will finally come together in full when he’s able to take his impressive physical attributes and impose his will on opponents.”
