Newsstand: Former Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli predicted to land in ACC

On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong predicted former Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli to commit to Syracuse on Tuesday.
Angeli, who entered the transfer portal this past Thursday as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining, visited the Orange on Monday. He completed 58-of-80 passes for 772 yards, 10 touchdowns and just 1 interception at Notre Dame in 21 games (1 start).
If Wiltfong and Nakos’ prediction becomes reality, Angeli will visit Notre Dame Stadium as an opponent on Nov. 22, which will be the Fighting Irish’s Senior Day.

Quote of the day
“Morrison started nine games as a true freshman at Notre Dame and then started 11 the following season. He was a full-time starter again in 2024 but missed a good chunk of the Irish’s national championship run due to a hip injury that shouldn’t affect him long term.
“He has a long, lean frame at 6 feet and around 190 pounds. That’s evident in his very high forced incompletion rate (20.5%) over the past two seasons. His short-area movements are explosive yet fluid, which allows him to play press-man coverage, mirror releases inside or out and transition from backpedal to full strides seamlessly.
“Morrison’s lean frame does come with drawbacks. While he is a willing and smart run defender, he lacks the strength to be a great tackler or to get off blocks quickly. He also may lack true long speed and can get grabby with receivers if they can stack him vertically. He is praised for his high football IQ and maturity, even as a true junior entering the draft.
“Bottom line: Morrison is a smart, smooth-moving man coverage cornerback with good instincts for making plays on the ball. Getting back to form after hip surgery and getting a bit stronger are the keys to a future starting outside cornerback role in a man coverage system — but really any system.”
