Who’s next in 2024? A closer look at five commitment candidates

Who’s next in 2024? A closer look at five commitment candidates

Michigan is coming off another important win on the recruiting trail.

The Wolverines landed four-star Ijamsville (Md.) Oakdale EDGE Dominic Nichols over the weekend. Nichols picked Michigan over offers from Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee and others.

Michigan now has 23 commits and boasts the No. 5 recruiting class nationally. But of course, Michigan fans are already thinking about the next man up.

So who are some other 2024 prospects that could jump on board and continue to build the momentum? Here are five candidates.

OL Michael Uini, Copperas Cove (Texas) High

One of the biggest storylines that came out of Victors Weekend was Michigan’s surge for Uini. I put a prediction in shortly following the trip and the Wolverines now hold a 94.5 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. While Michigan already holds five verbal pledges along the offensive line, the Wolverines would love to add Uini to the fold. Alabama and Georgia hosted Uini for official visits last week, but nothing has changed on the RPM. Uini will make his decision on June 30.

DL Deyvid Palepale, Landisville (Pa.) Hempfield

This one has been a rollercoaster. Michigan appeared to take the lead for Palepale last month and was in full command of this recruitment on the On3 Recruiting Prediction machine following his official visit earlier this month. However, Penn State is now the team to beat with a 54.6 percent chance of landing him. Being closer to family is playing a role down the stretch. However, Michigan feels better about its chances than it did last week. The Wolverines are capable of pulling this one off as Palepale gears up to make his announcement on July 1.

EDGE Elias Rudolph, Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High

I have a prediction in for the Wolverines to land Rudolph, and the Wolverines now have an 93.8 percent lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Rudolph is originally from Ohio and has an extremely tight bond with area recruiter and co-defensive coordinator Steve Clinkscale. The Wolverines had the clear lead for Rudolph following his official visit earlier this month, and nothing has changed. Rudolph will make his decision on July 3. All signs point to the Wolverines sealing the deal here.

LB Jeremiah Beasley, Belleville (Mich.) High

I put in a prediction for Michigan to land Beasley back in the spring and still feel confident following his official visit a little more than a week ago. The Wolverines have a 95.8 percent chance of landing him, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Michigan State is the biggest threat here as his half-brother, Maliq Carr, plays for the Spartans. However, I don’t believe MSU did enough on its official visit. Missouri hosted him for an official visit over the weekend, but there isn’t much concern with the Tigers. Beasley will announce his decision on June 28.

CB Aaron Scott, Springfield (Ohio) High

A Top 100 prospect, Scott is down to Michigan and Ohio State after seeing both schools for official visits in back-to-back weeks and may make his decision as soon as July 4. This one is truly a coin flip. Ohio State has the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction machine and is putting the pressure on Scott to stay closer to home. However, Scott loves Michigan’s defensive scheme and sees the opportunity for early playing time. Michigan is going to continue to recruit him hard over the phone for the next week as it looks to pull out a massive win over rival OSU.
