Report: Texas a top school for a former 2025 Duke signee
2025 Bellaire (Texas) forward Shelton Henderson was released from his letter of intent to Duke earlier this week. Now, Texas is among a group of five schools now working to add the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 1 player in the Lone Star State to its roster.

Per a report from Marcus Gutierrez, Texas along with Houston, Miami, Kentucky, Texas A&M, and North Carolina are the schools Henderson is considering in his new recruitment.
Henderson is the No. 17 overall prospect, the No. 5 small forward, and the No. 1 player in Texas in the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Henderson as the No. 36 overall prospect, the No. 8 small forward, and the No. 2 player in Texas.
On3’s Jamie Shaw provided a scouting report on Henderson.
Shelton Henderson is a strong-framed, densely built, explosive wing. Listed at 6-5, he has explosive burst and plays with an innate toughness on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he is comfortable on the ball. He has a good first-step to get by his man and the strength to hold him off with contact. He has good floor vision and makes quick decisions with the ball. Comfortable as a secondary initiator. The jump shoot will need re-tooling. It is inconsistent right now, allowing defenses to sag off and clog the lane. Henderson is a good positional rebounder and he can defend up or down a line up, comfortable containing the one through four at this level. He has an alpha mentality and brings a lot of winning attributes to a team. Production follows him in each setting he has played.
Henderson took official visits to Texas, Duke, Texas Tech, LSU, Houston, and Louisville during his process before committing to the Blue Devils on November 2, 2024. The Longhorns, Cardinals, and Blue Devils made up his previous top three.
For Bellaire in 2024-25, Henderson averaged 19.4 points and 6.0 rebounds according to MaxPreps.
