Portal SZN: Gilbert visits Minnesota, Wohlabaugh leaves Syracuse

Need more portal updates? We’ve got more portal updates for you — and probably will every hour for the rest of eternity at this rate. To catch you up in case you’ve missed any recent happenings, Hardley Gilmore and Lorenzo Cowan are in while Jaylon Stone is visiting. As for departures, the list is now up to eight:

DL Kendrick Gilbert

OL Daniel Mincey

OL Anfernee Crease

CB Jiquavious “Quavo” Marshall

IOL Marc Nave

OL Wallace Unamba

NG Dennious Jackson

DL Darrion Henry-Young

We also got a nice little update on New Mexico State running back transfer Seth McGowan, who On3’s Pete Nakos reports is an early Kentucky lean — potentially following his former lead blocker, projected starting left tackle Shiyazh Pete, to Lexington. The former blue-chip recruit who signed with Oklahoma out of high school and found his way to the C-USA could be in blue and white sooner rather than later.

How about a few other tidbits to get you through the afternoon to catch you up on some familiar names and faces? We’ll start with Kendrick Gilbert, the former four-star recruit from the class of 2023 who picked UK over Purdue, Iowa and LSU, among others.

The Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral product, who hit the portal back on April 14, is currently on a visit to Minnesota, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. He also has trips scheduled to ACC and Big 12 programs in the coming days. The 6-5, 275-pound lineman will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Elsewhere, another former Cat is back in the portal — this time with Syracuse offensive lineman David Wohlabaugh. Pete Nakos is reporting that the redshirt senior with 21 career games under his belt and two years of experience at Kentucky (10 appearances with two starts in Lexington) is set to explore his transfer options once again. He will have one season of eligibility remaining in 2025.

The son of Dave Wohlabaugh, who started all 128 games of his NFL career with 1995 All-Rookie Team honors, he was originally a four-star recruit out of high school in 2021.
