UCF’s Moustapha Thiam enters the NCAA Transfer Portal

Moustapha Thiam was one of the top commitments in the last recruiting cycle for UCF. His freshman season there, though, will now be his lone one with the Knights.

Thiam has now entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.

Thiam started in all of the 34 games at center for Central Florida. He went on to average 10.4 points (49.8% FG, 29.1% 3PT), 6.4 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game in that opportunity for the Knights as the team’s leader in blocks and field-goal percentage while being second in rebounding and fourth in scoring. The blocks per game were also top-ten nationally and were the most by any player in a power conference.

Thiam, a native of Dakar, Senegal, played his high school basketball at DME Academy in Daytona Beach just an hour outside of Orlando. He was the No. 59 overall recruit there as a four-star prospect after reclassifying into the 2024 cycle. He also rated as a Top-10 center in the class and a Top-10 player in the state of Florida. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
