Florida State transfer forward Malique Ewin commits to Arkansas

Former Florida State forward Malique Ewin has committed to Arkansas, via the NCAA Transfer Portal. He initially entered the portal on April 2.
Ewin only spent one season with the Seminoles. He started in all 30 of his appearances at FSU. The 6-foot-11 junior averaged 14.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 59.6% from the field. Ewin hasn’t attempted a 3-pointer in his collegiate career.
Ewin had perhaps his best performance of the season in Florida State’s season-finale win over SMU. In the victory, Ewin tallied a season-high 26 points and eight rebounds on efficient 10-13 shooting from the floor.
Before transferring to Florida State last offseason, Ewin spent the 2023-24 season at South Plains College, a community college in Texas. While there, Ewin earned NJCAA All-American First-Team honors and was named the junior college player of the year.
Ewin had initially committed to play at USF in the 2023-24 season but ultimately decided to play at the JUCO level instead. In his true freshman season, Ewin played at Ole Miss, where he made just 14 appearances.
Ewin played high school basketball at Berkmar (GA), where he was a four-star recruit. He was the No. 93 overall player and No. 10 center in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Now, Malique Ewin will look to reach new heights under head coach John Calipari at Arkansas. Ewin will help soften the blow of Arkansas big man Zvonimir Ivisic‘s decision to enter the transfer portal earlier this month.
Arkansas had a rollercoaster season in Calipari’s debut campaign at the helm. After beginning conference play 0-5, the Razorbacks turned their season around and won seven of their final 11 regular-season game.
They didn’t stop there, either. Arkansas defeated Kansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and shocked 2-seed St. John’s in the Round of 32 to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
Arkansas ultimately suffered a season-ending loss to Texas Tech but Calipari now has plenty of momentum heading into next season. He’ll look to capitalize on that momentum by adding more highly-touted transfers like Malique Ewin to his roster.
