Russell Westbrook designed Georgia Amoore’s WNBA Draft outfit

How about a collab between a two-time All-American and a former NBA MVP? Let’s call it an unlikely friendship between Georgia Amoore and Russell Westbrook, but that’s the reality — and it’s pretty freaking cool.

Those two need no introduction, the former an all-time Kentucky talent, and now, the No. 6 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, while the latter is a nine-time NBA All-Star and nine-time All-NBA member. Westbrook, as talented as he is and productive he’s been over the course of his historic career, has also always been into fashion and is tapping into it a little more as he inches closer toward what comes after basketball. That’s where Amoore comes in, Westbrook designing her outfit on draft night.

It started with a few pre-event conversations where the Kentucky superstar shared her vision — then the NBA great did the rest of the work.

“It would be an honor to potentially do something with you,” Westbrook told Amoore.

“This is actually unreal right now. Looking back on my life, it’s probably going to be one of the coolest things ever,” she said.

She dug a little deeper on her outfit and the inspiration throughout the night.

“Good friend Russell Westbrook designed it — Honor The Gift. I sent him that I wanted a skirt, I wanted a blazer, and he ran with it, fabric and everything,” Amoore said on the 2025 WNBA Draft red carpet. “He was like the creative director, I guess. I love it and I adore it. It was amazing, I told him I’m so thankful to be dressed by him, but two, it felt like a collaboration. It wasn’t like, ‘Oh, she’s going to the draft, let’s throw something on her.’ It was detailed, it was thorough. He actually checked me at one point because I told him to just do whatever, he was like, ‘No, no, it’s your night.’ It was a collaboration and it felt really good.”

“It’s been amazing, it’s been a blessing. First, Georgia, thank you again,” Westbrook told the ESPN panel ahead of the draft. “It’s truly an honor to do something so — I’m just grateful for the experience. Being able to create and being in my position to be able to do that, for the first time ever, I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

Then came Amoore’s moment, selected No. 6 overall by the Washington Mystics, bringing her look to the big stage.

Needless to say, she pulled it off.

After the draft, Amoore spoke on the partnership with Westbrook and his brand, Honor The Gift.

“I can’t even find the words, so if you can, help me — because it’s phenomenal,” she said. “He’s done such a good job. It didn’t feel like it was just to put his name on something. When we talked about the fit, it was very collaborative, he spent hours with me at the hotel fitting it and trying it on. He’s been very active in the process, so I can’t thank him enough for that. Even the little bits of advice he’s given me along the way, to have a contact like that now, someone you can try and lean on or lean into, it’s amazing.

“I think it’s the start, you’re going to see this happen more often. It’s a blessing to be the first one to do it.”
