Kansas State adds UNC Wilmington forward Khamari McGriff

Kansas State is back on the board out of the transfer portal for the second time this cycle. UNC Wilmington forward Khamari McGriff has committed to K-State, ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported.

Like Abdi Bashir earlier this cycle, the Wildcats moved in the dark to land McGriff. There was very little information known about McGriff’s recruitment outside of visits to Oklahoma and Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh visit took place on April 13 and the Oklahoma visit was scheduled for April 15.

The Florida native comes to Kansas State after four productive seasons for UNC Wilmington. 2024 was his most productive season playing for the Seahawks, who made the NCAA Tournament, averaging 11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.1 blocks while playing in 34 games with 12 starts. McGriff also averaged 19.2 minutes, the most of his career, and shot 65 percent on 7.4 shot attempts per game.

In the NCAA Tournament versus Texas Tech, the forward put up eight points and three rebounds in 16 minutes of action. A game that K-State Head Coach Jerome Tang was in the building for. This season McGriff scored in double figures 22 times with a season high of 34 in a game against Howard.

McGriff also hauled in a season high of 12 rebounds against Georgia Southern. The senior is an impressive shot blocker recording a block in 23 games with a season high of four in the CAA Semifinal versus College of Charleston. Most of the Florida natives damage comes around the rim, shooting 74 percent at the rim this season on 142 attempts.

As a junior in 2023, the Florida native averaged 3.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 31 games playing 16.7 minutes per game for the Seahawks. His season high in 2023 was 14 points versus Elon in 21 minutes of play.

The senior is commitment No. 4 for Kansas State since March. He joins high schoolers Ashton Magee and Exavier Wilson and fellow transfer Bashir.
