Key transfer target Lamar Wilkerson down to Indiana and Kentucky with decision upcoming

Lamar Wilkerson, one of the major transfer targets for Indiana, is down to two schools with a decision upcoming.

Multiple sources tell TheHoosier.com that Wilkerson is down to Indiana and Kentucky and that a decision ‘is highly likely’ to come this week.

Wilkerson visited Indiana on Saturday, Kentucky on Sunday and had a visit scheduled to Auburn on Monday before cancelling it on Monday afternoon.

As of Monday night, the feel around the recruitment is that Lamar Wilkerson is a Kentucky lean following his visit to Lexington, but no commitment had been made.

Indiana had all of the momentum heading into the end of the dead period last week but Kentucky made a major push to get a lot of steam heading into the visits.

The 6-foot-5 guard is one the top shooters in the country and one of the top available transfers.

Wilkerson averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game last season for Sam Houston while shooting 44.5 percent from three — making 3.4 3s a game last season and ranking fourth nationally in 3s per game and in three-point percentage.

Wilkerson had 18 points and was 2-of-4 on 3s against Indiana this season at Assembly Hall.

Lamar Wilkerson has one season of eligibility remaining. He is ranked the No. 30 transfer in the On3 rankings. He is also the No. 9 overall shooting guard.

Indiana has transfer additions from DePaul guard Conor Enright, West Virginia wing Tucker DeVries and Davidson hybrid forward Reed Bailey.
