Three schools are at the top for 2025 top-100 overall prospect Faheem Delane

Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star safety Faheem Delane does not plan to take many visits this summer as he prepares for his junior season. However, the 6-foot-1.5, 200-pound recruit has already seen multiple schools.

Alabama, LSU, Maryland and Virginia Tech hosted him in the spring. Right now, the Crimson Tide, Tigers and Ohio State are in the lead for his commitment.

“They are up there for me right now,” Delane told On3. “I like the fits at all three.”

Delane believes he will cut down his list late in the season or right after it. He believes three or four schools may make his final cut.

Following that announcement, the No. 3 player in Maryland plans to take his official visits. By this time next year, he expects to be committed or very close to committing.

“I am still in search of a school that best fits my style of play,” said Delane, the No. 88 overall prospect and No. 9 safety in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “I want to play in a defense with multiple safeties and play in a scheme that fits me. The defensive mindset, a staff that I can learn from and a school that can develop me is big because my end goal is to play in the NFL.”

Delane announced his top 11 schools on March 17. They are Alabama, FloridaFlorida State, LSU, Maryland, Ohio State, OregonPenn StateSouth CarolinaUSC and Virginia Tech.

Delane discusses his interest in Alabama, LSU and Ohio State

Alabama: “Alabama’s three safety look stands out to me. I see a great opportunity to play there. (Nick) Saban coaches defensive backs too. Then, it is Alabama. You go there to go to the NFL.”

LSU: “LSU runs all types of defensive packages. When I was there in the spring, I broke film down with coach (Kerry) Cooks. It was great to see what they do. LSU has their defensive back history too with (Derek) Stingley, Jamal Adams, Grant Delpit, the list goes on and on and on. I love that history at LSU.”

Ohio State: “I am really high on Ohio State. I visited early and I have liked them since my freshman year. It has a great defensive back culture. They have a balance of corners and safeties. Coach (Perry) Eliano, coach (Ryan) Day, coach (Jim) Knowles, they all recruit me. The last time I was there was for the Michigan game.”
