KJ Parker builds connection at Iowa

Wide receiver KJ Parker was able to make it back to Iowa City this weekend for an official visit with the Hawkeyes. After seeing the campus and facilities on previous visits, this time the 5-foot-11, 170-pound Illinois native was able to build more of a connection with the Hawkeye football program.

“At the visit, what really stood out to me is how much of a brotherhood it is at Iowa,” Parker told HawkeyeReport.com. “I really love how the coaches took the time to build a connection with myself and the other players. They really let me get a feel for how college is going to be by taking us step by step on how the process will go.”

The trip also gave Parker a chance to spend more time with the current players at Iowa, who are in the midst of summer workouts on campus.

“My host was Xavier Nwankpa,” said Parker. “He was a great host and I fit in well with everyone.”

Coaching wise, Parker sat down and met with Iowa wide receivers coach Kelton Copeland, who continues to have the three-star prospect among his top priorities in the Class of 2024.

“I spent the most time with Coach Copeland,” Parker said. “His message was just how much love they are showing.”

A three-star prospect with an On3 Industry ranking of 85.67, Parker is a versatile playmaker that had 37 catches for 1,082 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior at IC Catholic Prep in Elmhurst, IL.

That type of production him earn scholarship offers from Iowa, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Miami-OH, Western Michigan, Toledo, Buffalo, and Ohio, among others.

Now, Parker feels that he is nearing the end of his recruitment and has a decision date in sight.

“I will commit July 1,” said Parker.
