Nebraska lands Air Force transfer, former instate wing Will Cooper

Nebraska’s recent run of portal additions continued with a commitment from Air Force wing Will Cooper.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound sophomore-to-be is an Omaha native and former 2023 recruit out of Millard South. As a true freshman, he averaged 5.3 points while shooting 37.7% from 3-point range (20-of-53).

He has three remaining seasons of eligibility.

While Cooper had modest final statistics this season, much of his production came over the last month of the season. Highlighted by a season-high 21 points in an overtime win over Fresno State, in which he hit 6-of-12 threes, Cooper scored in double figures in three of the Falcons’ final five regular-season games.

He averaged 11.0 points over 25 minutes per game during that stretch.

Cooper finished second on the team in field-goal percentage (59%) and free-throw percentage (82%), hitting 45% from behind the arc in Mountain West play.

Injuries hindered his high school career at Millard South. An MCL tear ended his junior season after just five games. Five contests into his senior campaign, a torn labrum sidelined him for the year.

Before his second injury, he averaged 16.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game to open his senior season.

Cooper joins Iowa wing Pryce Sandfort, Central Michigan forward Ugnius Jarusevicius, and Rhode Island transfer/former Husker guard Jamarques Lawrence as NU transfer commitments since Friday.
