Texas A&M forward Solomon Washington enters NCAA transfer portal

Texas A&M forward Solomon Washington has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He has entered with a do not contact tag.
Washington is coming off his third season in college, all spent with the Aggies. He’s had varying contributions across his three seasons.
His sophomore season was the high-water mark. During that 2023-24 campaign, Washington averaged 7.4 points and 5.7 rebounds.
However, his production dropped a bit as a junior. This past season, Solomon Washington started 23 of 32 games and averaged just 4.7 points and 5.1 rebounds.
Finding a little more consistency going forward will be key. Maryland will obviously be one potential school to watch in the transfer portal, as head coach Buzz Williams recently departed Texas A&M to take the same position with the Terps.
Should that happen, Williams would know what he’s getting. He’s had three years to watch Washington, a 6-foot-7 forward, develop.
One area that can be worked on quite a bit is Washington’s 3-point shooting stroke. Though he doesn’t take a ton of them — 128 career attempts — he does hoist enough that last season’s mark won’t quite cut it.
Solomon Washington hit just 18.9% of his 3-pointers this season after hitting 26.7% as a freshman and 28.3% as a sophomore. He’s a 72.1% career free-throw shooter.
Texas A&M loses a guard to the portal
Solomon Washington wasn’t the only player from Texas A&M to hit the transfer portal. Texas A&M guard Andre Mills has also entered the NCAA transfer portal. He only spent one season with the Aggies.
Mills didn’t see any action for Texas A&M this season. The Aggies’ backcourt was loaded with stars Wade Taylor IV and Zhuric Phelps, and Mills took a backseat, preserving a season of eligibility.
Mills played high school basketball at Brimmer and May School (VT), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 119 overall player and No. 26 shooting guard in the 2024 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
On3’s Grant Grubbs also contributed to this report.
