Noah Gragson attended Stanley Cup final on doctor’s orders while recovering from concussion

Noah Gragson attended Stanley Cup final on doctor’s orders while recovering from concussion

While recovering from concussion-like symptoms, Noah Gragson was told to put himself in loud situations, so he went to the Stanley Cup final. Of course, the NASCAR driver is a Las Vegas native so he was more than happy to go to the game and watch his hometown team clinch the Cup.

The big story is how Noah Gragson made the decision to sideline himself. Drivers are not too keen on sitting out of any race. Even if they are hurt, if they can drive they will. For Gragson, it was a matter of realizing he wasn’t in a good place health-wise.

While the NASCAR Cup Series rookie talked to media in Nashville, he talked about going to the game.

“That [Stanley Cup game] was Tuesday after Sonoma so I was starting to feel pretty close to 95%,” Gragson said, via Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports. “I’d say this past week I really started feeling 100% but it’s pretty close to 95% not getting as bad of headaches not feeling so fatigued, just the symptoms, you know?

“I’ve taken a lot of hard hits throughout Xfinity cars last year in Cup Series cars and never have I had the feeling of symptoms that lasted so long and throughout the week leading up to the next race. Normally it’s the next day you’re pretty sore and then Tuesday you’re ready to get back to it. But the symptoms kept getting worse Tuesday, got worse Wednesday and I was like, this is the first time I’ve ever felt like I need to go get help and treatment and see what I can do, where it’s at.”

Pockrass noted in his tweet that Noah Gragson’s doctor recommended the driver go to the game to put himself in a loud situation.

Noah Gragson back at Nashville

With his concussion behind him, the LEGACY Motor Club driver is hoping to salvage something for this season. He has seemed pretty dejected in the last couple of months. Given how his performance and his team’s performance have gone as a whole, you can’t really blame him.

The good news is that Nashville is a town Noah Gragson thrives. Both on and off the race track. He might be a Vegas native but Music City seems like a second home for Gragson. He’s back this week and maybe he can put together a solid run and put a smile back on his face.

The move to Toyota next year for LEGACY is going to be a welcomed one. These drivers and I’m sure the crew members are a little bit in limbo as Chevy moves out. When a move like this happens, it is hard to tell what that relationship is like.

Noah Gragson is back in the 42 Chevy this week. Is there any chance that he can string together some strong runs and make it interesting in Nashville this weekend?
