Fast Break — Tennessee making a third straight trip to the Sweet Sixteen with a 67-58 win over UCLA

LEXINGTON, Ky.  — Tennessee is headed back to the Sweet Sixteen for the third straight year after the Vols throttled UCLA with a 67-58 win

Tennessee used an 8-0 to close out the first half to lead 32-25 at the half. The Vols opened the half with an 18-6 run to cruise to the win.

Chaz Lanier had a huge night in what win over Wofford scoring 29 points. He followed it up Saturday with 20 points, making 4 of 5 threes. The four made three’s gave Lanier the school record for made three’s in a season surpassing Chris Lofton. Tennessee is unbeaten when Lanier scores 20 or more.

Zakai Zeigler added 15 (10 in the second half) and six assists. Jordan Gainey added 13 to lead the Vols. 

Tennessee’s big men, Felix Okpara, Igor Milicic, and Cade Phillips added 13 points. The trio had 20 rebounds including 8 offensive. Tennessee had 13 second chance points. Tennessee out rebounded the Bruins by 10.

The Vols led by 19 with 5 minutes to play and was in complete control. Tennessee got sloppy down the stretch with turnovers as the Bruins outscored the Vols 16-6 but it didn’t matter as Tennessee was already off to the Sweet Sixteen.

Tennessee advances to face either No. 3 Kentucky or No. 6 Illinois in Sweet 16

The Vols advance to face either No. 3 Kentucky or No. 6 Illinois in the third round on Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Illini and Wildcats play Sunday at 5:15 p.m Eastern Time on CBS.

No. 1 Houston will face No. 4 Purdue in the other Midwest Region semifinal in Indianapolis.
