Blue Chips: Insight on Top 100 CB Jameer Grimsley ahead of Michigan official visit

I recently caught up with Tampa (Fla.) Catholic head coach Jeris McIntyre to get his thoughts on Top 100 cornerback Jameer Grimsley, who is making his official visit to Michigan this weekend.
Here are some highlights.
On his overall thoughts on Grimsley:
“He’s a great kid and heck of a player. He’s an all-around player. He plays wide receiver, defensive back and returner for us. I’m excited to have him and excited to see what what he can do as a senior. I’m excited to see him make plays and be a senior leader for us.”
On his biggest strengths as a cornerback:
“He’s a really long, athletic kid. That’s the big reason why he blew up. He has the length, the speed and balls skills. That’s what you want in a defensive back. All those attributes make him a great player. Coaches can see what he’s capable of doing once he develops at the next level.”
On Grimsley’s ceiling:
“He has huge upside. He’s a long, fast, athletic defensive back that’s really smart. He’s a 4.0 student. I think with the mixture of all those things and being coached up, his ceiling is really high. I don’t like to compare or things like that, but he has the attributes of guys that are big-time players on Saturdays and have chances to play on Sundays.”
On Michigan recruiting him:
“They’ve done a great job. Coach Clink (Steve Clinkscale) has done a great job. I had heard a lot about him, but I got a chance to meet him during the recruiting process. He seems like a guy that’s on the up and up. He wants the best for all the guys he coaches. I’m looking forward to seeing what Jameer says about his official visit this weekend. I know he’s excited about it.”
On what Michigan can do to improve its stock this weekend:
“Really, I think the proof is in the pudding with what they’ve done over the years, including recently. I just think it’s about him being comfortable and seeing what the environment is like in Ann Arbor. That’s the main thing. Also, seeing how mom and dad like it. He needs to see what it’s like being away from home. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Michigan. It’s Michigan. Hopefully, he enjoys it and is comfortable with Michigan. I know I am. I think him feeling comfortable and seeing it is the main thing. Also, getting familiar with the coaching staff. He knows Coach Clink but getting familiar with the others.”
On how Grimsley would fit in at Michigan:
“I think he would fit in well. He’s a long, athletic kid. He’s strong mentally and physically. He would do well with that kind of football up north in the Big Ten. I think he would fit in.”
