Iowa’s big official visit weekend is finally here.

In this update, we take an in-depth look at each recruit scheduled to visit the Hawkeyes, their other offers and official visits, where Iowa currently stands in their recruiting, and much more.

June 23 official visitors for Iowa

Gavin Hoffman

After receiving an offer from the Hawkeyes in early June, tight end Gavin Hoffman will make his official visit to campus this weekend. Hoffman was last in Iowa City on April 15 so wants to get a closer look at things now that Iowa has an offer on the table.

As a junior, Hoffman put up big numbers at Blue Valley Northwest with 39 catches for 713 yards and 11 touchdowns. At Missouri’s camp this month, he posted a 4.56 forty and a 40″ vertical at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds, which quickly led to more interest. Hoffman holds offers from Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Arizona State, Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois, Purdue, Texas Tech, and Marshall, among others.

This month, he has taken official visits to Missouri, Arizona State, and now Iowa.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Missouri as the favorite at 42.5%, followed by Iowa at 29.9%, and Arizona State at 19.4%.

KJ Parker

A versatile prospect that could play on either side of the ball in college, KJ Parker has emerged as one of Iowa’s top targets at wide receiver. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Parker was on campus for Iowa’s spring scrimmage on April 22 and will be back for his official visit this weekend. A high school teammate of tight end target Eric Karner, the duo attend IC Catholic Prep, where one of their coaches is former Hawkeye Matt Bowen.

During the recruiting process process, Parker has earned scholarship offers from Iowa, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Miami-OH, Western Michigan, Toledo, Buffalo, and Ohio, among others.

This month, he has taken official visits to Cincinnati and now Iowa.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Iowa as the favorite at 55.0%, followed by Cincinnati at 36.4%.

Reece Vander Zee

In-state, Iowa’s top remaining target is wide receiver Reece Vander Zee from Central Lyon. A high school teammate of incoming freshman safety Zach Lutmer, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound Vander Zee helped his team win state titles in both football and basketball this past year. He also finished fifth at state track in the 110 meter hurdles and is a standout pitcher receiving Division I interest in baseball as well. On the football field, he finished his junior season with 32 catches for 768 yards and 10 touchdowns last fall.

During the recruiting process, Vander Zee has earned scholarship offers include Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Air Force, South Dakota State, Montana State, UNI, Furman, and Yale.

This month, he has taken official visits to Iowa State and now Iowa.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Iowa as the favorite at 97.3%, followed by Iowa State at 2.3%.

Joseph Anderson

A 6-foot-5, 210-pound defensive end that is also a competitive hurdler and long jumper, St. Louis native Joseph Anderson is definitely a prospect with high upside. This past season was only Anderson’s third year of playing football, but he has already made a name for himself, earning All-State honors after racking up 54 tackles and six sacks as a junior.

Currently, Anderson is looking over an offer list that includes Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, and Wyoming, among others.

This month, he has taken official visits to Nebraska, Kansas, and now Iowa.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Nebraska as the favorite at 95.4%, followed by Iowa at 2.6%, and Kansas at 1.7%.

Chima Chineke

Texas defensive lineman Chima Chineke was in Iowa City in March, which is when the Hawkeyes offered, and now plans to return for an official visit this weekend.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Plano native has seen interest continue to grow since then with several new offers now on the table. His list now includes Iowa, Texas Tech, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Houston, Memphis, and Tulsa, among others.

Chineke, who had 35 tackles and 6.5 sacks last season, has taken official visits to Vanderbilt, Kansas, Texas Tech, and now Iowa this month.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Texas Tech as a slight favorite at 33.3%, followed by Iowa at 29.1%, Kansas at 18.9%, and Vanderbilt at 15.7%.

Jaylen Watson

After earning an offer at Iowa’s camp this month, cornerback Jaylen Watson will be back on campus for his official visit with the Hawkeyes this weekend. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Watson, whose uncle Fred Russell played running back at Iowa, ran a 4.47 forty at Iowa and impressed the coaches with his footwork at cornerback.

Mostly known as a receiver prior to Iowa’s offer on defense, Watson shows great playmaking ability on film, which has led to offers from Iowa Cincinnati, Minnesota, West Virginia, Louisville, Maryland, Marshall, Miami-OH, Toledo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Kent State, and Liberty.

Watson, whose only official visit scheduled right now is Iowa, plans to announce his college decision on July 8.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Iowa as a heavy favorite at 97.1%, followed by Cincinnati at 1.9%.

Xavier Lucas

Florida defensive back Xavier Lucas will be making his first trip to Iowa City this weekend. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Lucas also took official visits to Wisconsin and Illinois this month.

With the ability to play both cornerback and safety, Lucas has earned a number of offers during the recruiting process with a list that includes Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Stanford, Alabama, Auburn, Oklahoma, Miami, Florida State, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Oregon State, Colorado, Tennessee, Louisville, Indiana, Pittsburgh, Kentucky, West Virginia, and South Florida just to name a few.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Illinois as a slight favorite at 29.3%, followed by Iowa at 25.7%, Wisconsin at 22.0%, and Auburn at 6.5%.

Rashad Godfrey

Florida defensive back Rashad Godfrey received a new scholarship offer from Iowa on June 13 and quickly scheduled an official visit for June 23. Right now, it is the only official visit the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Godfrey plans to make this summer.

Godfrey, who could play cornerback or safety in college, holds scholarship offers from Iowa, Boston College, Duke, South Florida, Tulane, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, Connecticut, Liberty, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, and Western Michigan, among others.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Iowa as a heavy favorite at 73.8%, followed by South Florida at 2.1% and Florida Atlantic at 1.8%.

Graham Eben

In-state safety Graham Eben does not yet have a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes, but does have an official visit scheduled to Iowa City this weekend. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Eben impressed the Iowa coaching staff at their camp this month and is interested in learning more about their plans for him this weekend.

A dynamic playmaker on both sides of the ball Eben has earned scholarship offers from Eastern Michigan, North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and Northern Iowa thus far during the recruiting process. A high school teammate of Reece Vander Zee, as well as freshman safety Zach Lutmer who is already on campus, there is the potential for quite a pipeline developing from Class 2A powerhouse Central Lyon/George-Little Rock.

This month, Eben has taken official visits to South Dakota and now Iowa.

Currently, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has Iowa as the favorite at 56.5%, followed by South Dakota at 40.5%.

Iowa commits visiting June 23

Of course, Iowa’s commits will also be well represented this weekend with all 11 set to make their official visit. On offense, that includes QB James Resar, RB Brevin Doll, RB Xavier Williams, OL Cody Fox, OL Josh Janowski, OL Bodey McCaslin, and OL Will Nolan. Then, on defense, you have DE Drew Campbell, LB Derek Weisskopf, LB Cam Buffington, and LB Preston Ries. All of them will be on campus to help the Iowa coaching staff recruit along with learning more about their future college home.
