Report: Cooper Kupp expected to sign with Seattle Seahawks

Former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is expected to sign with the Seattle Seahawks, NFL Network first reported Friday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter added Kupp is inking a three-year, $45 million contract.

The Rams released Kupp earlier this week after making him available for trade. Los Angeles said it would either trade the former Super Bowl MVP or grant him his release as the franchise transforms its offense.

Ultimately, Kupp was released, meaning any team could sign him. Although he reportedly had his suitors, he will now join a retooled Seattle offense which just traded DK Metcalf and Geno Smith. The Seahawks signed Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100 million contract to replace Smith, who’s now with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Seattle will take on a new look next season after making multiple moves as the new league year got underway. Metcalf is now with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Smith re-joined Pete Carroll with the Raiders. The Seahawks also released veteran receiver Tyler Lockett, leaving Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the top contributor in the room from last season.
