Isaiah McMorris commitment: What does it mean for Nebraska?
The Nebraska football team continues its June recruiting run. The Huskers picked up a big in-state commitment from Bellevue (Neb.) West wide receiver Isaiah McMorris on Friday.
Here are some quick takes on the commitment of McMorris and what it means for Nebraska.

With McMorris’s commitment, NU is now up to 17 commitments and five from the in-state.
1. McMorris is one of the more explosive wide receivers we’ve seen come out of the state in recent memory. As a junior, he set a state record with 90 catches and was just 67 yards shy of the state record for receiving yards in a season finishing with 1,297 yards. He had 15 receiving touchdowns and averaged 15 yards per reception in the Thunderbirds’ high-powered offense.
2. What’s equally impressive is what McMorris has accomplished as a multi-sport athlete. In 2021 and 2022, he was a part of state championship basketball teams at Millard North. In 2023, he played a big role in helping Bellevue West win state.
On the track, McMorris ran 10.65 seconds in the 100-meter dash to finish sixth at the state meet in one of the more loaded fields we’ve seen.
3. In many ways, McMorris bet on himself to become a major Division I football prospect. He left Millard North after two years, where they run an option offense. He transferred to West, knowing they already had Dae’vonn Hall on the field, and still managed to have one of the best seasons we’ve ever seen from a wide receiver in state history.
4. This was a recruiting battle for the Huskers. At one time, it looked like USC and Oklahoma had a leg up on the Big Red. Give first-year wide receivers coach Garret McGuire a lot of credit here. He battled for McMorris and won his trust during the recruiting process.
5. Since 2015, Bellevue West has placed 13 wide receivers, tight ends and running backs at the Division I FBS or FCS level. Back in the 1980s and 90s, Omaha Central was Nebraska I-Back High. You can make the case Bellevue West is “Wide-out High,” as eight of those 13 players were Division I wide receivers.
6. Since 2017, Bellevue West has had eight players sign or commit to Power Five programs. If you take 2025 into account with Christian Jones and Keynan Cotton, Omaha Westside is poised to have potentially eight go Power Five dating back to the class of 2021. That’s the only other program on the same level as the T-Birds in producing major Division I talent in the state.
7. McMorris is now the fifth in-state member of Nebraska’s class of 2024, and there’s a chance we could see that number grow as high as eight. In 1998, NU signed nine in-state prospects.
