Kentucky is five coaches deep at Georgia vs. Oklahoma

Kentucky is five coaches deep at Georgia vs. Oklahoma

How is Kentucky preparing for its late-night battle to open SEC play on Thursday? By staying up late on Wednesday watching both potential opponents inside Bridgestone Arena.

No. 11 Georgia is currently taking on No. 14 Oklahoma in the final game of the first round here in Nashville, the winner advancing to take on the Wildcats at 9:30 PM ET on Thursday. Sitting courtside? Not one, not two, not three, not four, but five staff members representing the blue and white.

Associate head coach Alvin Brooks III, assistants Cody Fueger and Jason Hart and graduate assistants Leander Ridgeway and Austin Pope are all watching the game, taking notes on the Bulldogs and Sooners.

Mark Pope talked about Kentucky’s scouting plan earlier in the day upon the team’s arrival.

“We have three teams right now, three teams that are leading the scout,” he said. Team A and B, or 1A and 1B are working on Georgia and Oklahoma. Then we have another independent group on the staff that’s working on Alabama and prepping that. We also have a group that’s looking even further down the road.”

Can Pope win his first postseason game as the head coach of the Wildcats? His staff is putting in the work to help him do it.
