2027 wide receiver Donovan McNabb Jr. offered by new Norfolk State head coach Michael Vick

2027 wide receiver Donovan McNabb Jr. offered by new Norfolk State head coach Michael Vick

Nearly two decades after Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick faced off in numerous NFC battles, the latter is now recruiting McNabb’s son to play for him at Norfolk State.

On Monday, 2027 Brophy Prep (Ariz.) wide receiver Donovan McNabb Jr. announced that he had received an offer from Vick, who was hired by the Spartans this offseason.

McNabb Jr. is coming off a sophomore season where he caught nine passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. But the son of the former Philadelphia Eagles star is quickly blossoming into a coveted recruit.

Since his junior season concluded, McNabb Jr. has received offers from Arizona, Florida Atlantic, Minnesota, Sacramento State, Southern Miss and his father’s alma mater, Syracuse.

In addition to playing against each other on numerous occasions while McNabb played for the Eagles and Vick for the Atlanta Falcons, the two were teammates for one season in Philadelphia as well.

The elder McNabb was a six-time Pro Bowler between 1999 and 2009, leading Philadelphia to eight playoff appearances and five NFC championship games, including four in a row from 2001-04. Vick, meanwhile, was a four-time Pro Bowler himself — three with the Falcons and once with the Eagles in 2010 after taking over following McNabb’s departure for the Washington Redskins.

McNabb Jr. part of a high school squad deep with NFL lineage

The 6-foot, 170-pound McNabb Jr. is one of a handful of NFL legacies playing for Brophy Prep.

In the wide receiver room alone, the Broncos boast McNabb Jr., Devin Fitzgerald — the son of Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald — and Daylen Sharper, the son of former NFL safety Darren Sharper.

The younger Fitzgerald had 52 catches for 720 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior in 2024 and is being recruited by Arizona State, Notre Dame, Clemson, Florida State and others. Sharper plays varsity football and basketball for Brophy Prep. This fall, he totaled 846 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.

Brophy’s roster also features Bastian and Case Vanden Bosch, the sons of Kyle Vanden Bosch, a three-time Pro Bowl defensive end.

The Broncos finished the 2024 season with a 10-3 record and an appearance in Arizona Interscholastic Association Conference 6A state semifinals.
