Auburn takes shot at umpires after home run called back vs. Old Dominion
Auburn celebrated as it appeared to have a home run Sunday afternoon in a game against Old Dominion. However, after a replay review, the play was called back as a double much to the confusion of the Tigers.
Shortstop Deric Fabian hit a ball to deep left center that hit the railing on the wall before bouncing back. The broadcasters seemed to believe that would indicate that would make the call of a home run stand, but they ended up being wrong. That led to some salt from the Auburn social media team.
Upon further review, this was ruled a 2B,” they wrote alongside an emoji with a monocle.
The hit from Fabian drove in at least one run, and Auburn held a 2-0 advantage at the end of the inning. Thankfully, Fabian eventually got his at his very next at bat in the fifth inning, blasting a solo home run down the left field line.
The Tigers currently hold a 5-1 advantage in the top of the sixth inning.
