BYU is expected to part ways with head women’s basketball coach Amber Whiting, sources told On3. Whiting has been at the helm of the Cougars since 2022 and had a 45-51 overall record with the program. 

The Cougars finished 14th in the Big 12 this season with a 13-17 overall record and a 4-14 mark in conference play. This is BYU’s second season in the Big 12 after transitioning from the WCC. 

BYU did not make the NCAA Tournament in Whiting’s three seasons at the helm, but they made the WNIT in her first year and the WBIT in her second season with the program. They fell in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament this year to UCF. 

Whiting played college basketball for three colleges in Utah, including BYU for her final season. After her playing career, she coached AAU basketball and Burley High School girls basketball. This was Whiting’s first Division I job. 

BYU will begin a search for their next head women’s basketball coach.
