Brad Keselowski releases statement following scary post-race medical attention

Brad Keselowski released a statement Monday after receiving medical attention and being carted off pit road following Sunday’s race at COTA.

“Yesterday was a tough one at COTA,” Keselowski wrote on X. “Sometimes things happen that are out of our control, but I’m thankful for my team and the care I received at track. At the end of it all, we came home with a top 15 finish. Appreciate the support – on to Phoenix.”

Keselowski finished 15th at COTA but upon exiting his No. 6 Ford, was loaded onto a stretcher. RFK Racing announced after the race that Keselowski’s cooling suit failed. The 41-year-old was treated and released at the infield care center.

“After his cool suit failed during today’s race, [Keselowski] went to the infield care center to get some IV fluids,” RFK Racing tweeted. “Can confirm he is feeling much better now.”

Brad Keselowski doing much better after scary pit road scene at COTA

It couldn’t have been much fun for the former champion inside the racecar, making his P15 finish all that more impressive. It was Keselowski’s best finish of the young season after finishing 26th and 39th at Daytona and Atlanta, respectively.

Chris Buescher — Keselowski’s RFK Racing teammate — finished 7th, another strong showing for him at a road course in the Next Gen era.

“This 17 team battled really hard to get our Fastenal Ford Mustang Dark Horse up to P7 here. We are happy with that,” Buescher said after the race, via Dustin Long of NBC Sports. “It was a really hard day; a lot of ups and downs. We never got ourselves into the track position that we wanted to. We want to be better. It was a good day but I just feel like we are not quite competitive enough to win here at COTA.

“We have been very close at all of the other road courses – we feel like we have a chance to win at the others. We need to make a couple more tweaks to our Mustang here at this place. A good showing for this new course. We stayed out of the melee, for the most part, and I am proud of everyone on this Fastenal team. They did a good job today.”
