Texas WR Isaiah Bond pledges to break Xavier Worthy’s 40-yard dash record at NFL Scouting Combine
Former Texas receiver Xavier Worthy set an NFL Scouting Combine record last year after posting a 4.21 in the 40-yard dash. Isaiah Bond, a top Longhorns prospect this year, plans to top Worthy on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
“I’m going to break the record tomorrow, for sure. I anticipate running 4.20 or possibly if I’m feeling great, I might run 4.1,” Bond said, via Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS.
Bond has set the bar high for himself. But as we saw with Worthy, a historic 40-yard dash time can certainly improve your draft stock. The Kansas City Chiefs wanted speed in their offense, and found it in Worthy, whom they selected 28th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. Worthy had a solid first season in Kansas City, hauling in 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns.
