Notre Dame guard Braeden Shrewsberry to miss remainder of 2024-25 season

Notre Dame sophomore guard Braeden Shrewsberry is out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, the team announced Wednesday evening. He missed Saturday’s win over Pittsburgh with a lower abdomen strain, which he suffered in a 21-point loss to SMU on Feb. 19.

Shrewsberry’s injury will not require surgery.

“I’m crushed that I can’t be out on the court right now during this final push of the regular season, but I plan on supporting my teammates in any way possible from the sideline,” Shrewsberry said, according to the official news release. “I also want to take this time to thank the Notre Dame community for all the love and support this season. Go Irish.”

The son of Notre Dame head coach Micah Shrewsberry, Braeden Shrewsberry built off a strong finish to his freshman year with a sophomore campaign that saw him score 14.0 points per game, albeit in a disappointing season for the Irish.

Shrewsberry shot 41.3 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from three-point range and 82.9 percent from the free-throw line. He ended his season third in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 2.8 made three-point field goals per game, although he took the second-most attempts from beyond the arc in the league with 7.5.
