Clint Bowyer catches mid-race nap amid Daytona 500 weather delay

Clint Bowyer catches mid-race nap amid Daytona 500 weather delay

The folks at NASCAR had about a three-hour delay for rain at the Daytona 500. Clint Bowyer used that time as wisely as possible. With likely a late Sunday night in front of him, the FOX broadcaster decided it was a good time to catch some rest.

Drivers, crew members, and fans alike probably used this rain delay to rest up. If you’re at the track, a weekend at Daytona can be a lot to handle.

For Clint Bowyer, the delay was the perfect time to nap. I’m sure we will have a fired-up and well-rested Bowyer for the rest of the Daytona 500.

Of course, Bowyer’s coworker and good friend, Kevin Harvick, captured him sleeping.

NASCAR appears determined to get the Daytona 500 finished tonight. They do not want to race on Monday. The hit the ratings will take is too much to deal with if you don’t have to. Instead, we are going to get primetime Cup Series racing, folks.

The FOX booth will be ready to go. Mike Joy, Clint Bowyer, and Kevin Harvick are going to deliver this race to us. Regan Smith will be one of the pit reporters along with Jamie Little. Cup Series racing is finally back and we are almost ready to get rolling again at Daytona.

Coming off a Super Bowl his Kansas City Chiefs did not win, I’m sure Bowyer is happy to have NASCAR back as a distraction. I am also sure that his buddies at FOX and in the NASCAR garage are not letting him hear the end of it.

Clint Bowyer does the smart thing during rain delay

During these long delays, the best moves are to get some sleep or get something to eat. Preferably, both if you have time. This rain delay came in right as the race was just starting. Only about 10 laps were run before the caution came out for rainfall in Turn 2.

Prior to the green flag, President Donald Trump was in attendance. He has since left Daytona. There were thousands of fans who were still waiting in the security lines to get into the track when the race started. Likely, fans were still trying to get into the track when the caution flag came out.

For those who made it in with plenty of time to spare, they had to leave their seats due to lightning. With the president and the delay and fans having to leave the stands, it must have been a mess trying to get anywhere as the rain started to come in.

I hope you are as rested as Clint Bowyer. Drivers are hopping into their cars right now as I type this and we are about to get going again in the Daytona 500.
