‘Definitely a Top 5 School’ … 5-star DB KJ Bolden recaps Florida State Visit
There was not one, but two, of the top five players in the 2024 class on campus this week to get a closer look at the Florida State Seminoles.
For five-star safety KJ Bolden, it was a chance for another unofficial visit and another opportunity to spend time with head coach Mike Norvell, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and secondary coach Patrick Surtain.
“It was great, Coach Norvell, the staff, Coach Surtain, Coach Fuller, they all show me great love up here,” Bolden said. “I definitely feel welcome here, every time I come up here. They always meet me at the door every time … they definitely rose their chances with me when I came down here. Definitely liking the school, definitely a lot right now for sure … FSU’s definitely a top-five school.”
The fifth-ranked player in the country also made sure to say how excited he is to come back and do his official visit during a game.
“I mean y’all know Florida State’s my dream school. So like, even though they started recruiting me like later on down the road, like the love I have for the school couldn’t go away,” he said. “So I’m definitely going to come down here again, check it out. Probably going to be back for an official during the season … might come back for the Miami game.….
“Really just want to get lit with the fans, you know, the Miami game it gonna be real packed down here, so just want to see a great game-day experience, see all the guys go out there and compete. I heard this year the team’s going to be very nice, so hopefully go out there and get us a natty.”
Bolden has had a lot of tight connections to this Florida State staff for a while now, but it seems like the newest coach on the staff, Pat Surtain, has now joined that group.
“Our bond is real tight, Coach Surtain, their recruiting pitch is like real,” he said. ”Like some schools, they’ll recruit you and they’ll be fake with it, like tell you stuff you want to hear even though it’s not true. But Coach Surtain, his recruiting pitch is definitely real. He’s gonna keep it real with you. And he’s been in the NFL. He knows a lot about the game, can teach you a lot, he taught me a lot of good things over the week.”
Other members of Tribe24 have also been contacting Bolden to try and get him in the Garnet and Gold. This includes fellow Georgia product Kam Davis.
And Norvell has been promoting the idea thag Bolden would fit in well with the Seminoles’ other commits from Georgia.
“He was just telling me like why not be different,” Bolden said. ”They’re building a special class with Kam and Landen [Thomas] and the quarterback Luke [Kromenhoek] and like he was like, ‘Why not join this class and have Florida State be back to where it use to be?’”
Bolden will now be heading to Alabama for an official visit Friday. After that, he says he will look to commit at the end of July or early August.
