Nebraska Women’s Basketball stuns No. 17 Maryland with 91-71 statement win
Nebraska Women’s Basketball flipped the switch after three straight losses.
Nebraska Women’s Basketball dominated No. 17 Maryland 91-71 at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Maryland. A 21-3 run in the second quarter ignited the Huskers to take a lead. They outscored the Terrapins 46-26 in the second half.
The Huskers dominated on the glass and outrebounded Maryland 42-25. After struggling from three over its last few games, Nebraska went 12-of-21 from behind the arc.

The Huskers had six players score double-digit points. Alexis Markowski led NU with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Alberte Rimdal had 15 points and Britt Prince added 13 points and eight assists. Logan Nissley and Jessica Petrie each recorded 11 points. Callin Hake added 10 points.
Shyanne Sellers had a team-high 23 points. She had 19 first-half points but scored four in the second half.
The victory should give Nebraska security in its NCAA Tournament chances. Head coach Amy Williams said on the Big Ten Network that the Maryland victory could be its “signature win.”
First quarter fall behind and comeback
Markowski and Sellers started off hot. Sellers had 12 straight points for the Terrapins in the first half of the first quarter. Markowski scored Nebraska’s first six points.
Maryland’s 3-point shooting gave them a 29-18 lead. They hit 5-of-7 from behind the arc in the first 10 minutes.
Sellers recorded 12 points in the first quarter. But she cooled off for most of the second quarter. The junior heated up for five points in the final minute of the quarter. She boosted Maryland to a 6-0 run to tie the game at 45-45 at halftime.
Nebraska scored 27 points in the second quarter. Rimdal and Petrie were critical in the Huskers’ 21-3 scoring run. Rimdal scored eight points and was 3-of-3 from the free-throw line. Petrie recorded six points.
After six first-quarter points, both Markowski and Nissley added two points in the second quarter.
The Huskers dominated on the boards to assist with their comeback. They had 13 rebounds and held Maryland to three in the second quarter.
Second half domination
After two points in the first half, Britt Prince started to see the ball go through the net. She scored eight points in the third quarter and 13 total.
The freshman guard helped Nebraska to a 7-0 run to give NU its largest lead of the game at 61-53. She had two layups sandwiched around Markowski’s three. Nissley hit another three for Nebraska to take a 64-55 lead.
The Huskers scored six unanswered points to lead 73-59 heading into the final quarter.
Nebraska put together an 11-0 run in the first part of the fourth quarter. Rimdal and Callin Hake each had big-time threes in the run. Maryland had a 6-0 run very late in the game. But in the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter, Nebraska was on an 18-4 run.
Just as Maryland’s 3-point shot gave them the lead in the first half, Nebraska’s shots from behind the arc set the pace for them in the second half. The Huskers went 7-of-10 in the second half.
After 19 first-half points, Sellers had two points in the third and four in the fourth.
