Commit Sandman Thompson Set to Visit Oregon

Oregon and A’Lique Terry are on the board for the second time in the class of 2025, and their latest commit is an offensive lineman from the Deep South.
Sandman Thompson, a 3-star interior lineman from Eau Gallie (Fla.), recently announced his commitment to the Ducks. And ScoopDuck caught up with him to discuss his decision.
“Oregon just seems like a perfect fit,” he said. “My relationship with coach Terry is great.
“He is from Florida. And I think I fit in their offense schematically perfectly.
“It just was the right time, and I am excited for my future in Eugene.”
One of the main reasons Thompson felt comfortable committing so early in the process was Oregon’s position coach. “Coach Terry is a genuine person,” he said. “And him being a young coach, he’s also very relatable.
“We chopped it up a lot on the phone, which made the relationship with him better.”
Thompson has not yet been to Eugene, but he has scheduled a visit for the weekend of July 29.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the facilities and seeing the campus,” he said.
Despite the pledge, Thompson said has not yet shut down his recruitment.
“I’m still going to take some visits,” he said, mentioning UCF, Tennessee and Miami as potential destinations.
While some fans may be worried about the distance between Florida and Oregon, Thompson said he’s fine with playing ball across the country. His parents are also on board.
“(They are) 100% OK and supportive with it,” he said.
Thompson joins fellow Florida native Dallas Wilson, a 4-star wide receiver, as the first two members of Oregon’s 2025 class.
