Super Bowl Seal Wants Monday Evening Football Notes

Super Bowl Seal Wants Monday Evening Football Notes

The Super Bowl officially ended football season with a whimper. In a game that was eerily similar to the Seahawks’ victory over the Broncos, the Eagles’ defense put a hurting on Patrick Mahomes and co. in a 40-22 victory in New Orleans. While the game did not give us a ton of fireworks, all of the hoopla around the event was entertaining. A few lingering thoughts.

Why do we need a new scorebug for the Super Bowl? The other was doing just fine.

People aren’t talking enough about the Southern Marching Band’s pregame performance.

Tom Brady has improved as a broadcaster, but his face is getting weirder.

How come it took this long for someone to turn Seal into a seal?

The Mountain Dew ad is likely the most memorable of the night, although I preferred the Stella spot that starred David Beckham and Matt Damon. Some people are saying the Kentucky football Super Bowl commercial was the best of the night. As Adam Luckett wrote for KSR+, it’s abundantly clear that Kentucky is trying to get back to its blue-collar roots this season.

“Gritty, hard working, dirty work, mental toughness, discipline, fundamentals, culture, nasty, and tough. Kentucky has to win in the margins to survive in the SEC. Those profits in the margins that Kentucky pulled from a blue-collar culture foundation have gone away in recent seasons,” says Luckett. “Can Kentucky get it back?”

We’ve Reached Team Bonding SZN

While the team is taking a blue-collar approach behind closed doors, they’re also spending more time together. Laser tag was on the agenda for a little Kentucky football team bonding.

Not Feeling Good About This Kentucky Recruit

Kentucky running backs coach Jay Boulware identified Carsyn Baker as his top running back target early in the 2026 cycle. Baker has seen his star rise, thanks to exceptional play during his junior campaign. Even though Kentucky was able to get him on campus in January, I’m not feeling too confident about the Cats’ chances. Georgia appears to be all-in on the Georgia native, who spoke enthusiastically about his love for UGA in this conversation with DawgsHQ.

“I hear from coach Crawford every day,” Baker said. “He tells me how much he wants me to be a Georgia Bulldog. Ever since the state championship game, coach Crawford has been on me hard. He’s making sure that I get back down for a spring visit and an official visit because I’m one of the priorities on his board… “They’re telling me that they don’t want me to leave the state of Georgia. They’re going to take two backs in this recruiting class.”

Jon Sumrall Speaks with Josh Pate

The Tulane head coach is a popular guy around BBN. Former Kentucky linebacker and assistant coach Jon Sumrall caught up with Josh Pate during Super Bowl week in New Orleans. You might not be interested in what he had to say about QB Darian Mensah‘s departure, but you’ll probably be interested to hear his stories from his time as an SEC assistant coach.
