Kim Mulkey and her entire staff traveled to Kentucky to watch Sacred Heart and LSU 2025 signee ZaKiyah Johnson play Monday night. The five-star and unanimous top-10 prospect signed with LSU over in-state schools Kentucky and Louisville showing the bond she has with the Tigers’ staff.

Sacred Heart got the win and in that game, Johnson became the first player in program history with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 500 assists for her career. Johnson is the No. 7 player on On3’s rankings and a dynamic 6-foot guard with a ton of upside.

“ZaKiyah brings size and athleticism to our backcourt,” Mulkey said on Signing Day. “Her versatility is a huge part of her game. From scoring to rebounding and defending she can affect the game in a variety of ways! Tiger fans are going to love the energy and winning tradition ‘Z’ brings to the PMAC!”

Johnson has won back-to-back state championships at Sacred Heart and has established herself as one of the greats in the area. As a junior she averaged 18.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.1 steals while helping her team win a state championship. As her senior season begins to wind down, her attention remains on winning another state title, and after that she knows she has a new home down in Baton Rouge at LSU.

“I picked LSU for their culture,” Johnson said on Signing Day. “I know coach Mulkey and her players know what it takes to be on the big stage and win a championship and I want to be competing with player I hadn’t seen normally, living here in Kentucky my whole life. Now it’s time to explore and I love how they made it still feel like home.

“I’m ready to be on campus and show who I am. I’m not a shy person, so you’re going to hear me. You’re going to see me at every event. I’m going to be everywhere, I’m going to be happy, and I’m gonna get buckets.”

Johnson is a central piece of LSU’s top-ranked 2025 class, joined by Divine Bourrage, Grace Knox, and Bella Hines, three more top-30 players. Johnson was also just selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game on April 1 on ESPN2, further building the excitement and anticipation to get her college career underway.

“This journey has been so fun, but there are definitely challenges I’ve had to face and different roles I’ve had to step into as I got older,” Johnson said. “I’m just excited to be where I am now. I trusted my heart and knew God always has me and he’ll help me with the decision and I feel I made the right one.”
